Built by a soldier. Run like a family.

Ruff & Ready is owned by Michael Todd, a retired U.S. Army veteran, and operated alongside his wife. We grew up in Virginia Beach, and we started this company in January 2026 to serve the neighbors we grew up with.

The Army teaches you to show up on time, finish the mission, and take care of the people next to you. We run every job the same way. You'll deal with the owners directly, from the first phone call to the final walk-through.

Straight answers. A clear price before we start, and no surprise charges at the end.
We show up. If we give you a day and time, we're there.
Clean job sites. We haul off the debris and sweep up before we leave.
Local, for good. This is our home too. We want to be your crew for years.

Served together. Still have your back.

Hampton Roads is home to one of the largest military communities in the country. We know what it's like to deploy, PCS, or come home with an injury that makes yard work and home repairs harder than they used to be.

If you're a veteran, active duty, a military spouse, or a neighbor living with a disability, tell us when you call. We'll plan the work around what you need.

Veterans and military families: Deployment coming up? We'll keep the lawn cut and the house in shape while you're gone, and keep your family updated.
Disabled veterans and neighbors: Mowing, ramps, railings, grab bars and repairs, done with patience and respect. We work at your pace and explain everything in plain terms.
Seniors who've earned a break: Regular lawn care and small fixes on a set schedule, so you never have to climb a ladder or haul a mower again.

Fresh off the job site.

Years of green, washed away

This home had years of built-up algae and organic growth. Our soft wash treatment safely removed it and brought the siding back to life, with no blasting and no damage.

Shady walls in our humid climate turn green fast. A wash every year or two keeps it from coming back.
